A place to learn how to play many different games with your dog - from introduction to a sport to competitions. We teach agility, barn hunt, farm dog, North American Sport Dog and treibball as well as basic manners work that goes into the success of each of those sports. We host competitions sanctioned by the North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) Barn Hunt Association (BHA), American Kennel Club (AKC), North American Sport Dog Association (NASDA) and the National Association of Treibball Enthusiasts (NATE) . We strictly enforce having NO dogs on property unless they are current on their rabies vaccine. Sorry titers does not count per Washington State Law.
Farm (Stanwood property) and Feld (Mt Vernon property) Rules:
All dogs attending training at SchaSam facilities must be vaccinated for rabies. Event criteria for vaccinations is covered in specific event premiums (entry forms). We highly encourage you to discuss all vaccinations with your veterinarian as the rabbit population is huge in this area and dogs may find the water in puddles very tasty. Heartworm is also on the rise in Washington State.
SLOW and safe in the parking area. Please be courteous of others and do not block anyone in or park in a handicapped spot without the appropriate placard.
No dogs off leash anywhere except in an off leash area or in working mode under the supervision of an instructor. That means leash is in the hands of a handler - not dragging on the ground or left tied to any fence, gate or barn unless actively training with an instructor and asked to do so.
No flexi leads, no pinch collars, no e-collars on either property for lessons. For events - Check premiums/entry forms for rules during events.
No smoking or vaping except in the confines of your vehicle with closed windows.
Off Leash Area is for a quick potty time - not over 5 minutes if someone else is waiting. Do NOT enter the off leash area when another dog is in it without expressed permission of owner. Handlers must be inside the off leash area with the dog(s). The Off Leash gate is to be FASTENED CLOSED when you exit. The wind is heck on hinges. Poop bags available and poop cans available - please pick up after your dog and adopt any stray poop you find. Please feel free to play with toys/chuck-its etc, but return them to the bins hanging on the fence when you are done. If your chuck-it throw sends the ball astray, please go find it before my mower does!
No dogs in barns/buildings unless they are actively hunting. For any business to be conducted during trials/events, the Trial Secretary is normally in the office barn. Both offices have windows from which to conduct business.
Please maintain 10’ between dogs unless both handlers are actively watching their dogs.
Please tell your instructor or Sam if you see something unsafe or that needs attention. There is extra toilet paper, hand sanitizer, poop bags, garbage bags etc in the offices and most issues can be remedied quickly if identified.
Please don’t allow your dogs to urinate on anything a human will need to touch - like trash cans, flower pots, the side of the porta potty, benches …… and especially not on gates that we will need to pass through continually and spend time adjusting. One dog does it and then another and soon that area is quite smelly to walk through, especially on a warm summer day. The off leash areas and the parking areas are great places to “drain your dog”.
Please be conscious of your dog’s barking behavior. Our facility has good neighbors on both sides who deserve to enjoy their out of doors areas without constant barking from a dog left in a vehicle or moving to/from their training.

Guest Instructor - Elizabeth Buller - AKC Judge for Farm Dog, instructor for Puppy Engagement and Foundation and Beginning Agility from Stanwood WA. Currently playing dog sports with two border collies - Meg & Charm. Lizzy came up in dog sports via 4H and volunteered her time to judge at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe for Dog 4H agility. From Lizzy: “I love teaching using NADAC obstacles and courses because my dog, Meg who is a 7 year old border collie enjoys flowing, fast courses. She’s a no-nonsense gal who appreciates clarity on course, as many dogs do. I have been training dogs professionally for five years after graduating with my Bachelors in Psychology and have been taking agility lessons the last 3 or so. Meg is my first competition agility dog, but I have enjoyed training and playing the game for fun since 2012 with my previous border collie, Kooper. I started agility as a 4-H kid in Montana and have been in love with the sport ever since. I am loving the role of teaching foundation agility work to new teams, and also puppy skills here at SchaSam Farm. All training, and especially sports, should be about the team dynamic, trust and relationship you develop with your K9 friend. I had a ‘reactive rehabilitation shelter mutt’ Toby who was a large part of my own training philosophies and learning. My background in working with behavioral issues helps me identify and work with you to alleviate the impact these issues may have on your team’s success. I actively compete in NADAC Agility, NASDA and Barnhunt at SchaSam Farm with Meg and my 18month old Border Collie Charm. And enjoy training fun dog sport skills, such as NASDA and Agility foundations skills to pups and their humans!”
