Connection, foundation, performance.

Agility is all about connection with your dog. We start with foundation work to encourage that desire of the dog to please it’s handler by performing obstacles correctly. Because dogs “read” our body over our voice, handlers must learn how to effectively use their body to be consistent with their voice command to provide a clear message on what is expected of the dog. The dog must learn how to correctly negotiate the obstacles such as the dog walk, A frame, weave poles, jumps, hoops, barrels, and tunnels. Being an athletic dog isn’t enough - it takes teamwork! We teach using North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) equipment and courses. Our SchaSam Agility Group (SAG) hosts seven NADAC agility trials a year; March & December indoors at the Fun Fur Paws Arena in Mt Vernon and May, June, July, August & September outdoors on grass at SchaSam Farm’s competition field.
